ABOUT DR. SOUBANTIKA PALCHOUDHURY

Highly Trained, Highly Effective, Researcher

I am the President and Founder of S&J NanoChemicals, Inc. In 2018, I first invented this unique nanofertilizer technology that can enhance the growth, vitality, as well as the yield of a variety of food and bioenergy crops at just a single drop. Within a few months, we realized the transformative benefits of our product for the farm and the farmer in minimizing cost of farming as well as environmental contamination from excess fertilizer usage. The vision of S&J’s team was to bring this breakthrough technology from the lab to the global agri-tech space for a more sustainable and farmer friendly agricultural future. S&J was founded in 2020 to bring a niche solution through nanotechnology for the needs of our producers.

I have close collaborative connections with The Entrepreneurs’ Center (Dayton) and LaunchTN. I am also an Assistant Professor in the Chemical and Materials Engineering department at the University of Dayton (UD). I have over 15 years of research experience in various aspects of nanotechnology. My work focuses on realizing new materials through nanochemistry for synergistic applications in energy, drug delivery, and precision agriculture. I earned my Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from The University of Alabama (UA) and have completed postdoctoral training from Yale, University of South Carolina, and UA. Prior to joining UD, I served as a Visiting and Assistant Professor at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. My research findings are published through over 41 journal articles, four book chapters, one book, and two journal cover arts with a current H-index of 22 and 1688 citations. My research has been highlighted in Nature and as journal cover arts in Nanoscale Advances, Chemical Communications, and C. It has featured as a Themed Collection in the journal of RSC Advances and as a Hot Topic article in the journal of Nanoscale Advances. I have led multiple journal Special Issues as Guest Editor and serve as a reviewer for 20 nanotechnology journals, NSF, DOE, and DoD. I have won various grants from NSF REU, DAGSI, Tennessee Department of Higher Education, and several industry partners. I am a dedicated enthusiast of graduate and undergraduate research. My mentees have won the DOE SULI summer scholarship, NSF Graduate Research Fellowship, Barry C. Goldwater Scholarship, and the DAGSI scholarship.
